BOISE -- With Election Day less than a week away, officials in Ada and Canyon counties are getting ready to count ballots.
On Thursday morning, employees at the Ada County Elections Office began testing the various methods they'll use on Tuesday, November 6.
Canyon County was scheduled to test later in the day.
The testing assures voters that the tabulators accurately count and report results
Ada County Election Clerk Phil McGrane says the test is necessary to "ensure that no one tampers with the machines between the time that we've tested and the time we start counting ballots ..."
McGrane also said his elections office locks down the ballot counting room after the test so that no one has access to the materials and equipment.
Thursday and Friday of this week are the last days to vote early, prior to Nov. 6th.
Early voting ends November 2nd.
