Woman sought in string of Elmore County burglaries

ELMORE COUNTY -- The Elmore County Sheriff's Office is looking for a Twin Falls woman in connection with a rash of burglaries that have occurred in the county since March.

A $200,000 warrant has been issued for the arrest of Marissa Dempsey on charges of burglary, grand theft, and petit theft.

Investigators say Dempsey is one of several suspects believed to have participated in the burglaries between March 29 and May 3. The crimes happened in Mountain Home, Hammett, Glenns Ferry and rural Elmore County, according to the sheriff's office.

Some of the missing and stolen property has been returned to the eight burglary victims, but not all has been recovered. Firearms are among the items stolen during the burglaries, investigators say.

The Elmore County Sheriff's Office has stepped up patrols in the wake of the burglary spree.

Anyone with information on Dempsey or the burglaries is asked to contact authorities. In addition, the sheriff's office is urging residents to lock their homes and vehicles and report any suspicious activity.
