Wanted man found, charged in Nampa shooting

CALDWELL -- A suspect accused of shooting a Nampa man multiple times earlier this month is behind bars.

Hector Salinas Martinez, 37, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service at a home in the 2900 block of Arrowhead Drive Monday evening.

Martinez had been on the run since Nov. 12, when police say he opened fire in the 300 block of 12th Avenue Road. Investigators learned the victim - a 32-year-old Nampa man - had been shot when he turned up a local hospital with gunshot wounds.

The injured man has already been released from the hospital, according to police.

It's unclear why Martinez may have targeted the other man, and the motive in the shooting remains under investigation, police say. No other suspects in the shooting are believed to be at large.

Martinez was booked into the Canyon County Jail on felony charges of aggravated battery and unlawful possession of a firearm.

He is due to appear in court Tuesday.
