Two men dead in Twin Falls homicide-suicide

TWIN FALLS - Two men are dead after what Twin Falls Police are calling a homicide-suicide.

At about 12:09 a.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to a home on Teton Street regarding an intoxicated man with a gun.

The initial report indicated that the man had fired a round into the ground, then began pointing the gun at other people in the area. The man had left before officers arrived.

However, police say that officers arriving in the area heard a woman begin to scream in the area of Juniper Street and Shoup Avenue. As officers approached the woman, they heard shots from a house on Juniper. The woman told officers that her children were still inside the house.

To evacuate the children, officers broke out a basement window and entered the basement bedroom. As they entered the room, they were able to see up a short stairway, and witnessed the suspect take his own life.

Police say he had shot and killed another man before shooting himself.

In a news release from Twin Falls Police, Lt. Terry Thueson said that officers have information indicating that the two men knew each other, and that "there are no suspects at large and no threat to public safety."

Police have not released the names of the people involved.
