Three teens in custody after attempted robbery at Meridian Walmart

MERIDIAN - Three teenagers are in custody after an attempted robbery and burglary at a Walmart store this morning.

Meridian Police say it happened around 3:20 a.m. Tuesday at the Walmart on Fairview Avenue in Meridian.

The 59-year-old victim told officers she was sitting in her car in the store parking lot when two men came up to her vehicle with their faces covered. One of the men swung a baseball bat at her car window, shattering it, she said.

The woman reported the men demanded that she hand over everything she had. She was able to drive out of the lot and get away without giving them anything, police say.

The woman told police a third suspect may have been driving a light-colored SUV.

About 10 minutes after the robbery report, police were dispatched to an alarm at the Ultra Touch Car Wash two miles away on Fairview Avenue.

When they arrived, police discovered the cash register and several other items missing.

At about 5:40 a.m., the Canyon County Sheriff's Office told Meridian Police they had found a possible suspect vehicle - a gold Buick RVD - when an attempted burglary in Canyon County was interrupted by the homeowner.

The suspects left the vehicle behind when they ran away, police say. Items stolen during the earlier burglary were found inside the Buick.

Three 17-year-old males were arrested and booked into the Canyon County Juvenile Detention Center for attempted armed robbery, burglary and felony malicious injury to property.
