Teen charged in Caldwell shooting

CALDWELL -- An 18-year-old Caldwell man was arrested Wednesday night in connection to a shooting that sent another man to the hospital earlier this month.

Francisco Gerardo Ramirez was taken into custody at a home in the 1000 block of Sheridan Avenue in Nampa.

Caldwell Police say they zeroed in on Ramirez as a suspect after an Ontario man walked into a local emergency room with a gunshot wound Sept. 6. The man said he had gotten into an argument with his attacker at a Nampa business. Police say the suspect followed the victim after he drove away, and shot him near the intersection of Santa Ana Avenue and Blue Springs Street.

The shooting is believed to be gang-related, according to police.

The victim told officers he did not want to press charges in the case, and did not cooperate with law enforcement, according to police.

Investigators had asked for the public's help identifying the shooter and released a description and photos of his vehicle, a a dark gray Chevrolet Malibu with tinted windows, black custom wheels, and chrome trim around the windows.

Police say they worked with Nampa detectives to develop leads that led them to Ramirez. The Chevrolet Malibu was found at the Sheridan Avenue address where he was arrested.
