Suspect in Boise credit union robbery arrested

BOISE -- A Mountain Home man accused of carrying out an armed robbery at Icon Credit Union in Boise is in custody after nearly a month on the loose, police say.

Eric Weigle, 45, is accused of walking into the credit union at 910 North Orchard Street and demanding money. Police say he told employees he had a weapon, but did not show one.

The robber, who was caught on surveillance cameras, ran away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police say multiple tips from the public helped investigators connect Weigle to the robbery. A warrant was issued for his arrest Thursday, and he was taken into custody later that day at a home in the 700 block of West 8th Street South in Mountain Home.

Weigle was booked into the Elmore County Jail on a felony robbery charge. If convicted, he could face up to life in prison.

Police say the robbery investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call  police dispatch at 377-6790 or Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
