BOISE -- A 20-year-old Meridian woman has been arrested and charged with lewd conduct with a minor under 16.

Ada County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Andrea Dearden says detectives were alerted to an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl after a tip came into the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

Sara Ann Murphy was living with the girl’s family when the alleged crime occurred.

Dearden says it was a consensual relationship and one the girl’s parents were apparently OK with, but it is a crime nonetheless.

Murphy is now in the Ada County Jail awaiting her first court appearance later today.

She could face up to life in prison if convicted of lewd conduct.
