Rupert drug bust nets 100 pounds of pot, 3 arrested

RUPERT - Three men are facing marijuana trafficking charges after police say they caught them with more than 100 pounds of pot.

Minidoka County Sheriff Eric Snarr said that authorities arrested the men and seized 102 pounds of marijuana during an operation in Rupert on Sunday.

32-year-old Sou Cha of Circle Pines Minnesota, 42-year-old Doua Chang of Fresno, California, and 34-year-old Cheng Yang of Manitowoc, Wisconsin are each charged with conspiracty and trafficking in marijuana.

All thre men are being held on $250,000 bond.

Snarr said the estimated value of the marijuana was about $150,000 in its bulk form. When broken down and sold on the street in smaller quantities, the approximate street value in $650,000.

The case is being investigated by the Mini Cassia Drug Task Force, the Minidoka County Sheriff's Office, and the Cassia County Sheriff's Office.
