NAMPA -- A Nampa man is behind bars after police say he threw a screwdriver at a woman so hard it stuck in her leg.
The incident happened the morning of Oct. 2 at the home of the suspect, 30-year-old Jared Duren. According to the woman who was injured, Duren was disassembling a TV mount with the screwdriver when they began to argue.
The woman said Duren became upset and flung the tool toward her, impaling her in the right thigh. She said she looked down to see the the tool sticking out of her leg. The victim went to urgent care at Primary Health for treatment.
When interviewed by officers, Duren admitted to throwing the screwdriver in anger, according to court documents. He also told officers he had been drinking when the incident happened, even though he was barred from consuming alcohol because he was on parole.
Duren was arrested on a felony charge of domestic battery with traumatic injury. He remains held in the Canyon County Jail on a $500,000 bond, and is due to appear in court Oct. 20.
