Police: Man posed as realtor to burglarize Ada County homes

MERIDIAN -- Police say they have nabbed a serial burglar who targeted homes in Meridian and Boise.

Boise resident Craig Joseph Getzloff, 51, was arrested Wednesday afternoon after investigators say he tried to break into a home near Shenandoah Drive and Haines Street in east Boise.

Detectives from the Meridian Police Department and Boise Police Department had been following Getzloff when they saw him force his way into the unoccupied house at 1:20 p.m.

Investigators say Getzloff is a suspect in "numerous" other home burglaries in Ada County, during which jewelry and prescription medication were stolen.

The suspect often targets open houses and poses as a realtor in order to get access to houses that are up for sale, according to police.

He was arraigned before Judge Michael Oths Thursday afternoon. Getzloff is charged with burglary, grand theft, possession of a controlled substance, possession of burglary tools and malicious injury to property.

The judge set bond at $100,000. Getzloff is due back in court on Nov. 30 for a preliminary hearing.

Anyone who has information about the burglaries or recognizes Getzloff is asked to contact police at 208-377-6790.
