Police: Man may have tried to entice trick-or-treaters in Meridian

MERIDIAN -- Meridian Police are asking for the public's help after trick-or-treaters reported a concerning interaction with a man near the Capital Church Halloween night.

The incident happened at about 8:30 p.m. at 2760 Fairview Avenue as three 14-year-old girls cut through the church parking lot, police say.

The girls told police they noticed a man sitting in a silver four-door passenger car. As they walked through the lot, the man got out of his car and walked towards the girls, saying "come here," according to the report.

The girls say they ran away through an open field near the church.
