Nampa 'predator' sentenced for sexual battery

CALDWELL -- A Nampa man who admitted to soliciting sex from two teenage boys this summer was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in prison.

Kristopher Alva Richins, 25, will be eligible for parole after three years behind bars.

Richins was arrested in July after police say he preyed on the two teens over the course of a few weeks. Richins approached the first teen for sex, but was turned down, prosecutors say.

The defendant then moved on to another teenage boy, plying the minor with drugs and alcohol before the pair had sex in the back of Richins' vehicle.

Richins later told investigators he knew the boy was underage at the time.

"The defendant in this case befriended these two young men and then used his position of trust to take advantage of them for his own sexual gratification," Prosecutor Bryan Taylor said in a press release. "Mr. Richins is a predator and he deserves to be punished for his actions."

Richins pleaded guilty to sexual battery in September. In addition to the prison time, he was ordered to register as a sex offender and pay a $5,000 fine.

The defendant was allso barred from having any contact with the boys or their families.
