NAMPA -- A man accused of shooting and killing a 25-year-old as the victim drove down a Nampa street pleaded guilty to first-degree murder earlier this month.
Jesus "AJ" Avila, 31, was arrested a week after the June 22 slaying. He admitted to killing Alabama resident Ricardo Keith during a hearing Oct. 7.
Police say Keith was driving near the intersection of Florida Avenue and Ivy Street when Avila shot him once in the body. He was rushed to a local hospital, but did not survive.
A woman in Keith's pickup wasn't hurt. Avila was captured in Washington a week later.
Police say Avila and Keith knew each other, and the murder wasn't random.
Avila will face life in prison at his Dec. 15 sentencing.
