LEWISTON - Nez Perce County prosecutors have charged a 38-year-old Lewiston man for shooting his friend with a hunting rifle over an alleged dispute about money.
David Branas was charged Thursday with aggravated battery and illegally owning a firearm. He is being held on $50,000 bail.
Authorities say Branas shot 21-year-old Wesley Bowler of Clarkston at his home on Sept. 1.
The Lewiston-Tribune reports that Bowler was taken to a local hospital and later transferred to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. His condition was not immediately known.
According to court records, Browler told investigators that Branas accused him of breaking into his house and stealing $4,000 and other items.
A preliminary hearing in the case is set for Sept. 21.
