Boise park vandalized with swastikas, racial slurs

Graffiti was spray painted on a local park.

BOISE -- Crews are working Thursday to clean up a Boise park after play structure was vandalized.

The vandals used black spray paint to draw a swastika and write multiple racial slurs on the play equipment at Mountain View Park.

Boise Parks and Recreation employees are working now to scrub the paint away. The park is located off of Ustick Road, next to Mountain View Elementary.

Boise Police say they are investigating the playground vandalism, which is believed to have happened sometime overnight. No arrests have been made in the case.

The incident is not the first time authorities have had to contend with hate-themed vandalism in Boise. A man was caught on camera scrawling swastikas and a bigoted message outside refugee-owned restaurant The Goodness Land in July, and the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial was defaced in May.

Boise Police spokeswoman Haley Williams said there is no evidence the crimes are connected.

Anyone with information about the culprit should contact police.
