Boise man accused of raping 15-year-old

BOISE -- A Boise man is in the Ada County Jail after investigators say he raped a 15-year-old girl Saturday night.

Deputies were called out at 11 p.m. Saturday to investigate a report of sexual assault at a home in the 2300 block of South Locust Grove Road in Kuna.

The 15-year-old said she was inside the house in the bathroom when 25-year-old Corey James West came in and raped her. According to the Ada County Sheriff's Office, the girl called a friend immediately afterward and told them what happened. The friend then called deputies to report the assault.

West had already left the home by the time deputies arrived, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies interviewed multiple people who know West and spent hours searching for him before finding him walking near a family member's home in Kuna at about 8 a.m. Sunday morning. Evidence shows West had been actively avoiding deputies all night, investigators say.

The suspect and the 15-year-old know each other, according to the sheriff's office.

West was arrested and booked into the jail on a felony charge of rape and a misdemeanor charge of violating his probation. He is due to appear in court Monday afternoon.

If convicted of rape, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.
