CALDWELL -- Two Canyon County Sheriff's deputies were shot and wounded by a wanted suspect in Caldwell after a standoff situation Tuesday night.
The incident happened at approximately 11 p.m. near a home on Sheryl Lane, just off Interstate 84 in Caldwell.
Caldwell Police were looking for 27-year-old Kyle Alan Batt in relation to an aggravated assault case. The department asked for help from the Canyon County Sheriff's Office.
Chief Deputy Kieran Donahue says Batt shot at five deputies as they approached the house on Sheryl Lane.
At least one deputy was able to return fire before Batt ran from the home. Batt was hit by one of the bullets.
A SWAT team was able to track and find Batt using a police dog. Deputies say he was found hiding in a garage near Richway Drive around 2:45 a.m.
When confronted by SWAT members, Batt shot himself. He's currently at a local hospital with unknown injuries.
According to authorities, one of the injured deputies was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital. The other deputy is reportedly in serious condition. Both are said to be 6-year veterans of the sheriff’s office.
