MOSCOW, Idaho -- A northern Idaho judge has delayed the trial for a Moscow man charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of an acquaintance.

The Lewiston Tribune reports that 2nd District Court Judge John R. Stegner on Wednesday agreed to postpone the trial until May 20 for 28-year-old Nathaniel H. Nisbet.

Nisbet on the same day waived his right to a speedy trial, telling Stegner he thought it was in his best interest.

Latah County Prosecutor William Thompson Jr. told Stegner that the state is still waiting for results of evidence testing to come back from a state laboratory.

Prosecutors say the Nisbet shot and killed 42-year-old Charles "Pat" McMichael during a confrontation at a Moscow home on Nov. 11.

Nisbet has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.
