COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho -- Coeur d’Alene Police are looking for a kidnapping suspect.

Officers temporarily closed down Tubbs Hill Tuesday to search for 49-year-old Douglas Standish. He's suspected of taking a woman at gun point yesterday from her Dalton Gardens home and later releasing her.

Standish is now facing a first-degree kidnapping charge.

On Tuesday, Standish's daughter spoke out, saying her father isn't a violent man.

“He's not mean, not violent, he's always been a hard worker,” said Bria Kindred.

Kindred lives in Michigan and said the woman Standish allegedly kidnapped was his ex-girlfriend. Coeur d’Alene Police confirmed Standish and the victim knew each other but could not say how.

"He has three daughters that love him and really need him. It doesn't have to end like this. I just want him to turn himself in,” said Kindred.

The search for Standish was called off Tuesday night but may resume again in the daylight on Wednesday.

He was last seen driving a blue van with a possible license plate of K303434.
