CALDWELL -- Caldwell Police say a man was stabbed three times in the back during an altercation Tuesday outside a local bar.

Lt. Devin Riley says the victim, 35-year-old Brian Baker of Caldwell, didn’t even know he had been stabbed until officers checked him out.

Police were called to Vern's Bar at the corner of 7th Avenue and Arthur Street at 9:25 p.m. for a report of a fight between two men.

Riley said the two men knew each other and had been warned about disorderly conduct just a few days earlier. This time the dispute turned violent.

Baker was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released. He has since been charged with misdemeanor battery for his involvement.

Police arrested 33-year-old Michael Thomas Freeman and charged him with aggravated assault. He was booked into the Canyon County Jail.
