COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho -- Idaho State Police tracked down and arrested the father of a 2-year-old boy who was found after he wandered into a Coeur d’Alene bar alone.
The boy walked into Sully’s Pub and Grill on N. Government Way around 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Police say the boy told officers his name and was able say that his dad’s name was Jesse Edwards.
The boy was reportedly wearing an inside out pajama top, sweatpants and boots, and a diaper that looked like it had not been changed for awhile, police said.
Officers contacted 36-year-old Jesse Edwards of Hayden by cell phone, and were able to confirm the identity of his child.
Idaho State Police say they eventually located Edwards at the Hayden Wal-Mart. Officers said he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Authorities said Edwards offered no explanation about how he became separated from his child.
Edwards was placed under arrest for child endangerment and taken to jail.
The child was temporarily taken into protective custody.
