BOISE -- A man who tried to rob a Boise bar early Sunday morning is in custody thanks to the assistance of several patrons, according to Boise Police.

Police were called to a bar near South Vista Avenue and Kootenai Street around 1:36 a.m. Sunday.

Witnesses say a man came into the bar looking for a phone. He then pulled out a knife and held it to the stomach of a female employee and demanded money. When the suspect reached into the cash register the woman began screaming.  That's when bar patrons jumped in and started fighting with the man.

They were able to wrestle him out the door. During the struggle the suspect dropped the knife and fled.

Witnesses were able to provide police with a description of the suspect who was located at a nearby restaurant a short time later.

Adrian Lopez, 40, of Fort Lupton, Colo., was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on a felony charge of robbery.
