BOISE -- A Boise man was arrested on Monday for felony grand theft and computer crime charges in what police call an elaborate PayPal scheme.

Investigators said 41-year-old David E. Grindle defrauded numerous people online by posting electronic items for sale on eBay. They said Grindle would receive money for the items using PayPal, but would never actually ship them to the buyers.

Detectives said Grindle used more than 400 PayPal accounts under a variety of different names since October 2012. He is also accused of opening more than 400 bank accounts, where he deposited customer payments.

PayPal guarantees e-commerce money transfers and reimbursed all of Grindle's suspected victims to an estimated loss of at least $115,000.
