BOISE -- Police and bank officials are investigating a case of ATM tampering that may affect customers of the U.S. Bank branch at 17th and State streets in Boise.

U.S. Bank manager Dave Web said customers who used the bank's ATM on Friday night should monitor their accounts for any unexpected charges.

That's because employees called Boise police after they found the ATM had been tampered with the next day. A subsequent check by a technician confirmed their suspicions.

Police detectives are reportedly reviewing surveillance footage of the ATM to learn exactly what happened.

BPD spokesman Chuck McClure told KTVB the bank did not find a so-called "credit card skimmer" as has been reported in other Boise media outlets.

However, McClure said that possibility does exist.

According to U.S. Bank, all customers who used the ATM during the compromised times have, or will be contacted by the bank.
