TWIN FALLS -- A nurse at a south-central Idaho cancer hospital is charged with illegally prescribing herself narcotic pain pills for about two years.
The Times-News reports 46-year-old Rebecca L. Haskins of Twin Falls was arraigned Wednesday on six counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.
Charging documents allege Haskins told investigators she called in the prescription for the hydrocodone/acetaminophen pills under a doctor's license, but without his permission.
Mountain States Tumor Institute Director Melissa Fenderson said the state Board of Pharmacy found 62 instances when Haskins obtained the pills under the doctor's name.
Police say Haskins told them it was common practice for her to write patients' prescriptions and have the doctor sign them, to save time.
Court records say she told police she was prescribed the drug after a shoulder injury and became addicted.
