NAMPA -- Police in Nampa say they have arrested a suspect in connection with a hit-and-run crash that happened at the corner of 12th Avenue Road and E. Sherman Avenue Saturday night.

Police say a motorcycle was traveling on 12th Avenue when a white passenger car made a left turn in front of the motorcycle, causing the bike to crash.

Police say the driver of car sped away.

The motorcycle rider was taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise with serious injuries.

After obtaining surveillance video of the crash from a local business, investigators were able to get a good description of the car.

While on his way home for lunch Monday, Police Chief Craig Kingsbury located the car in the 1000 block of 9th Avenue South in Nampa.

The driver was identified as 35-year-old Daniel Chavez-Palomo of Nampa. He was arrested a short time later in the 300 block of Holly Street.

Chavez-Palomo was booked into the Canyon County Jail on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, driving without privileges and no proof of insurance. More charges are pending.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Tuesday afternoon.
