TWIN FALLS -- A 44-year-old Twin Falls man who served as his own attorney has been convicted of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl and possessing child pornography.
The Times-News reports jurors on Wednesday convicted Robert Brackett of five counts of sexual battery of a minor, but could not reach a verdict on a sixth count. Jurors also convicted him of eight counts of possession of child pornography.
Sentencing is set for May 3 in 5th District Court in Twin Falls County. Brackett says he plans to appeal the verdict.
Twin Falls County Deputy Prosecutor Julie Sturgill said the relationship came to light after Brackett and the girl argued in January 2011, leading her to report the relationship to school counselors.
