BOISE -- A man who prosecutors say broke into a murder victim's house and set it on fire has pleaded not guilty to arson and burglary charges.

Forty-two-year-old Steven Eugene Roberts III entered the not guilty plea in Boise's 4th District Court on Thursday.

Prosecutors say Roberts broke into 74-year-old Phyllis Ward's Boise home a year ago and stole property before using gasoline to set a fire.

A month earlier, Ward's body was found when another fire brought emergency workers to the home Prosecutors say Roberts is not connected to the first fire or the beating death.
