COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -- The Kootenai County prosecutor's office says a 53-year-old Post Falls man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for aggravated assault and burglary.

First District Judge Richard Christensen said Russell A. Passons must serve at least 10 years on the aggravated assault charge before he will be eligible for parole.

The Coeur d'Alene Press reports Passons was charged after prosecutors said tried to steal a television from a Walmart store and pulled a knife on employees before running away. Prosecutors said security video showed Passons stealing a baby stroller earlier in the day, which a woman later tried to return to the store for a refund.

Prosecutor Barry McHugh said Passons has a lengthy criminal history, and that helped the judge decide on a longer sentence.
