KETCHUM, Idaho -- An Idaho man is charged with disorderly conduct after falling from a building in downtown Ketchum during a summer music festival and landing on an off-duty sheriff's deputy, fracturing the officer's neck.
Ketchum Police Chief Steve Harkins tells The Idaho Mountain Express that Austin B. Cruz was charged last month and issued a summons to appear in court where he pleaded not guilty. The case remained sealed until Nov. 15.
Sgt. Corey Weatherly was injured at 1:45 a.m. on July 15 when police say Cruz fell and landed on the deputy, who was working security for the event.
Sheriff Gene Ramsey said Monday that Weatherly has undergone two operations and remains on medical leave. Ramsey says Weatherly is doing better after the second surgery performed in October.
