Inmate who walked away from Nampa work center back in custody

BOISE -- The Idaho Department of Correction says a Nampa Community Work Center inmate who walked away from his job Thursday afternoon is back in custody.

Richard H. Michalies was reported missing from his job on Graye Lane at 3:22 p.m. Thursday.

Michalies turned himself in at the Kootenai County Jail in Coeur d'Alene around 2:30 p.m. Friday.

He was serving a 6 to 12-year sentence for forgery convictions in Bonner and Nez Perce counties.  He was scheduled to be released in June 2015. He is expected to face a new charged related to his escape.
