GOODING, Idaho -- A hearing to determine whether an Idaho man will face trial on charges stemming from a fatal all-terrain vehicle crash has been rescheduled for mid-October.
Shane Jeffery Haile is charged with vehicular manslaughter in the ATV crash that killed 27-year-old Blanton McGee of Hailey. Court records show a preliminary hearing for Haile, who is also accused of driving the ATV without permission, was vacated last week and moved to Oct. 18.
The Times-News reports Gooding County sheriff's deputies responded Aug. 26 to the canal where the ATV crashed. McGee was partially ejected from the vehicle's passenger side and later died from his injuries at a Boise hospital.
Deputies reported Haile was unhelpful in their investigation and that he both admitted and denied driving the ATV during the crash.
