SALT LAKE CITY -- An Idaho inmate facing extradition for the 1983 sexual assault and beating death of an 11-year-old Ogden girl says his father may have committed the murder.
In a letter sent to The Salt Lake Tribune, 44-year-old Gregory Seamons acknowledged to "fooling around" with 11-year-old Rebecca Lemberger prior to her death in 1983.
But the newspaper reported Thursday that Seamons says he suspects his father likely killed the girl. His father, Larry Bingham Seamons, is now deceased.
Authorities say DNA evidence from the scene matched Gregory Seamons' DNA from a national database last year. Rebecca Lemberger was last seen walking to school on March 2, 1983. Her body was found the next day.
