KETCHUM, Idaho -- A 25-year-old Hailey man is charged with vehicular manslaughter and joyriding for allegedly taking an all-terrain vehicle from a party and crashing it into a ditch, killing his passenger.
Gooding County Sheriff Shaun Gough said Shane Jeffrey Hale is charged in the death of 27-year-old Blanton Lee McGee.
Gough tells the Idaho Mountain Express that McGee most likely drowned after the ATV crashed into a ditch in Hagerman Sunday afternoon. The ATV was traveling at between 35 and 50 mph.
Hale made an initial court appearance Monday. His preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 6.
