TWIN FALLS -- A woman whose granddaughter tipped off police to her pot-growing operation won't spend any time in prison as long as she stays out of trouble.
Vernice Tucker, 56, was sentenced Tuesday to two to five years in prison, but the sentence was suspended in lieu of three years of probation. Tucker was also fined $765.
Tucker was originally charged with trafficking marijuana, but the charge was amended to manufacturing a controlled substance.
After Tucker was turned in by her granddaughter back in June, police say they spoke with her about the plants and she said told them she was selling marijuana to raise money to care for her sick mother-in-law.
Police say they found 43 live marijuana plants, more than four pounds of pot, and a stash of marijuana seeds in Tucker's home.
