GARDEN CITY -- A Boise man could face felony charges after a late night police chase ended in a crash and injuries Wednesday.
Garden City Police say the chase started near Glenwood Street and Chinden Boulevard at 11:10 p.m. That's when an officer tried to pull over 33-year-old Joshua Self during a routine traffic stop.
Police say instead of stopping, Self sped away from the scene.
The officer followed for a short time, but stopped the chase for safety reasons. Soon afterward, Self crashed into a tree, and his car caught on fire.
The 33-year-old was taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover. A passenger in his vehicle was treated at the scene, according to police.
Officers say alcohol and speed were factors in the crash. Felony charges are pending.
