POCATELLO, Idaho -- The Bannock County Prosecutor's Office has filed first-degree murder charges against the Pocatello man accused of beating his six-year-old son to death.
Anthony Blake Viles was originally charged with felony injury to a child after he told investigators he struck the boy.
Deputy Prosecutor Vic Pearson announced the amended charges Tuesday which he says come as a result of Afton Allison's death on Sunday at Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Pearson says the 6-year-old’s cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.
Under Idaho code, first-degree murder charges accompany any beating death involving a child under the age of 12.
Bond for Viles has been set at $1 million.
