EAGLE, Idaho -- A physical education teacher from Eagle has been accused of sexually abusing a child under the age of 16.
Boise police say 42-year-old Grant Bothen turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday around 4:40 p.m. Bothen was subsquently charged with one count of felony sexual abuse of a child.
Prosecutors had previously issued a warrant for his arrest.
Bothen is currently employed by the Mountain Home School District as a physical education teacher.
Superintendent Tim McMurtrey says Bothen previously worked at Hacker Middle School, but says he hasn't been on the job since May.
"When we knew about the charges, he was asked to leave the classroom," McMurtrey said.
Officers say the alleged crime happened in a Boise home Between January and May of this year. They also say the victim and Bothen knew each other well.
Bothen is currently out of jail on a $50,000 bond.
Police say the victim in this case is receiving services through the Boise Police Department Victim Services Unit.
