TWIN FALLS -- A southern Idaho man who was convicted earlier this year of sexually abusing several children has died a week before he was scheduled to be sentenced.

The Times-News reports that 59-year-old Steven Virgil Anderson died at his Twin Falls home on Monday. A jury found him guilty in May of five counts of lewd conduct with a minor under the age of 16, one count of sexual abuse of a minor under 16 and two counts of intimidating a witness.

The judge in the case said Anderson would be allowed to stay at his home, wearing an electronic monitoring system, until his sentencing, which was scheduled for Aug. 13.
