NEZPERCE, Idaho -- A voluntary manslaughter charge against a Nez Perce tribal officer accused of shooting a man during a car chase in northern Idaho nearly two years ago has been dismissed.

The Lewiston Tribune reports that Magistrate Judge Stephen Calhoun dismissed the felony charge against 31-year-old Robert S. Wall on Monday.

Wall was charged in February in connection to the shooting death of 46-year-old Jeffrey A. Flinn of Lewiston. Flinn led police on 50-mile car chase in a stolen truck in November 2011.

Flinn finally stopped near the town of Ferdinand and was shot.

The Nez Perce tribe has criticized Lewis County prosecutors for pursuing the charges in the first place, noting the U.S. Attorney's Office declined to prosecute Wall in the shooting.
