BOISE -- Troopers with Idaho State Police arrested a California man in Gooding County after two vehicles were shot at along Interstate 84 Wednesday night.

28-year-old Lajai J. Pridgette faces a long list of felony charges in Ada, Elmore, and Gooding counties, including four counts of aggravated assault, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, unlawful possession of a firearm and grand theft by possession.

SHOTS FIRED

Police say the first shooting happened near the Boise Factory Outlets just after 6 p.m. A motorist reported that a driver in a Ford Mustang fired a shot that shattered both rear passenger windows of his Chevy Malibu. Neither the driver nor his three passengers were injured.

About an hour later, police received a second call about a shooting on I-84, this time about 16 miles east of Mountain Home. The driver of a Toyota pickup told police that someone in a Mustang had fired a shot through the door of his truck. According to police, the bullet lodged in items inside the cab. The driver was not injured.

SUSPECT ARRESTED

Police say a trooper eventually spotted a mustang matching the description of the suspect's vehicle at about 7:25 p.m. at a convenience store in Wendell. Officers arrested Pridgette as he walked out of the store.

According to Idaho State Police, the 2013 Mustang that Pridgette was driving was reported stolen from a rental car company in Anaheim, California earlier in the month.

Inside the car, troopers say they found a Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a credit card skimmer, equipment used to make fraudulent credit cards, and a stolen laptop computer.

CRIMINAL HISTORY

Police tell KTVB that Pridgette has an extensive criminal history in California, including convictions on several drug charges, assault with a deadly weapon, and promotion of prostitution.

He's currently being held in the Gooding County Jail.
