CALDWELL -- Police say a 28-year-old Caldwell man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly asked a 12-year-old girl to have sex with him via Facebook.

Elvis Andres Herrarte is currently in the Canyon County Jail charged with felony child enticement over the Internet.

Caldwell Police say the girl's mother discovered the sexual messages on Aug. 24 when monitoring her child's Facebook account. Investigators say the mother reported those messages to the police.

Investigators say Herrarte arrived at a Caldwell home expecting to have sex with the girl at approximately 9 p.m. Tuesday. They also say it was clear that Herrarte knew the girl was under the age of 18.

Harrarte was arrested by detectives when he arrived.

Police say "A Parents' Guide to Facebook" provides more information on Facebook and ways to protect children.
