TWIN FALLS -- A Buhl man was sentenced to a year in the state's retained jurisdiction program for biting the ear of his roommate's father during a fight last October.
The Times-News reports 37-year-old John Barton Miller was sentenced Monday after earlier pleading guilty to aggravated battery.
Police say Miller was accused of attacking his roommate, causing him to hit his head. When the roommate's father tried to fight Miller off, he said Miller bit his ear.
Court records say the roommate suffered a concussion and required stitches while his father needed emergency reconstructive surgery on his ear.
Miller's sentence requires he complete the treatment program or face a sentence of four to eight years in prison. He also was fined $725.
