BOISE – Federal prosecutors say a 40-year-old Boise man who admitted placing an ad on Craigslist that offered a 3-year-old girl for prostitution has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Jason Schaber pleaded guilty in May to felony charges of sexual exploitation of children and distribution of sexually explicit images of minors between 2010 and 2012.
On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge sentenced Schaber to 30 years on the first count and 10 years on count. The sentences will be served concurrently, and be followed by a lifetime of supervised release.
Schaber was arrested in May 2012 after an ad was found posted in the "Casual Encounters" section of Craigslist offering the girl for sex.
According to the plea agreement, Schaber produced 26 sexually explicit images and videos of girls under the age of six, and distributed child porn that he had produced himself or obtained from the Internet.
“Mr. Schaber well deserves the lengthy sentence the Court imposed,” said U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson. “His horrific conduct victimized an innocent child. This office, along with its federal and state law enforcement and 2 prosecuting partners, will continue to act cooperatively and aggressively to bring child sexual predators to justice.”
