GARDEN CITY -- Police are looking for a 24-year-old man they say ran from officers Tuesday night after nearly striking a patrol officer in Garden City and tossing a shotgun from his vehicle.

Around 10:30 p.m., officers observed a red Isuzu Rodeo speeding along East 44th Street but were out of their patrol car and unable to make a traffic stop.  A few minutes later, the same vehicle was spotted running a stop sign at 50 mph near 44th and Adams streets.

Police stopped the Isuzu near 48th and Adams and made contact with the driver, who was identified as Brenon Lawrence of Boise.  Just after police made contact, Lawrence put his vehicle in gear and sped off, nearly striking Officer Tyler Domeny.

Several witnesses saw Lawrence driving with his headlights off, going through a residential yard and then stop abruptly to discard items from his vehicle near 49th and Field streets.  A neighbor directed police to the items - a cell phone and a 12 gauge shotgun.

A warrant has been issued for Lawrence's arrest charging him with aggravated assault upon a law enforcement officer, eluding police, and driving without privileges.  His bond has been set at $500,000.

Anyone with information as to Lawrence's whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
