BOISE -- A 47-year-old Boise man is charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault after police say he threatened two people with a handgun Friday night.

Boise Police were called to a home near Overland Road and Latah Street around 7:30 p.m. Friday after receiving a report of shots fired.

Two people told police that Byron De Groot threatened them with a knife during an ongoing dispute outside his home. He then went back into the house and came outside with a handgun. The victims told police that De Groot pointed the gun at both of them and then fired a shot into the ground.  No one was injured.

Officers found De Groot near the home and later retrieved the handgun from his house.

He was taken to the Ada County Jail and booked on the two felony charges.
