BOISE -- A Boise woman has been charged with felony injury to a child after police say she was caught driving drunk with a small child in her car after leading officers on a brief chase in west Boise.
Boise Police say several drivers near Overland and Five Mile roads called around 11 p.m. Thursday to report a car that was swerving through traffic, and had almost hit another vehicle.
Officers responding to the calls say they eventually located 28-year-old Vanessa R. Dudy nearby, and tried to pull her over. They say Dudy ignored their emergency lights and siren, and instead led them on a hazardous chase through traffic, nearly hitting several cars and crossing multiple lanes of traffic.
Officers eventually rammed Dudy's car using the PIT maneuver, forcing her to stop.
Once stopped, officers found that Dudy was driving with a child "less than 5-years-old" in her vehicle. They also say she appeared extremely intoxicated, but refused to perform field sobriety tests.
Police say the child was turned over to the custody of a family member.
A check through Ada County records indicate that Dudy has had prior convictions for DUI, making this charge a felony.
Dudy was charged with felony injury to a child, felony DUI, and misdemeanor eluding or evading police.
