BOISE -- Police say a Meridian man accused of shoplifting on Saturday tried to run down a store employee who attempted to stop him from leaving a store parking lot.

Police say the alleged incident happened near the 8300 block of West Franklin Road around 6:30 p.m. They say that's when store employees spotted 39-year-old Brian Humphreys -- along with another suspect -- stealing several items, leaving the store, and attempting to drive away in a car.

Store employees told police that when they confronted Humphreys, he then drove directly at one employee, causing the man to fear for his life.

Police located Humphreys later in the day, and arrested him without incident. He was charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor battery, petty theft, and parole violation charges.
