BOISE -- Police say security camera footage released Wednesday helped them identify three persons of interest in a New Year's Eve stabbing case near the Idaho Statehouse.
KTVB and other news outlets published video stills showing the trio making purchases at a nearby gas station. The images were made available in a news release on Wednesday afternoon.
However, police have now determined the persons of interest "are not related in any way to the stabbing incident."
Officers say the video footage helped them identify and interview all three people.
Upon conclusion of the interviews, police sent a further release clearing them.
Importantly, police say the stabbing investigation remains active. Anyone who has information about the crime is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS, or log onto www.343cops.com.
